Pearsall Primary School is located near the Pearsall Community Centre on Willespie Drive, Pearsall. The school provides a learning experience for students based on evidence based practices that are well researched, including phonics teaching for literacy. Routines and procedures are important to young minds and the school places a high priority on their development. Pearsall Primary’s motto is Excellence Every Day and this serves as the cornerstone of their teaching.
The school’s classes cover early childhood, middle and upper primary with the inclusion of specialist programs for music, physical education and science. Pearsall also has an ICT plan that supports the requirements of the Australian curriculum. Digital tools used include desktop and notebook computers, iPads, interactive whiteboards and an interactive touch table.
The school believes that the development of reading for fun in a child is the key to lifelong learning. This philosophy is reflected in the school’s reading culture. Reading is a key part of the curriculum and is modelled, discussed and practised. Reading for fun is encouraged at school and home and teachers read aloud to children every day, make the time for children to read themselves and have book collections readily available to children for their use.
